It’s bitter cold outside tonight. The wind is whipping and shortly here it’s turning to snow, and all I can think about is those darn turkeys. I hope they’ve found a warm place for the night.

They were in the lower pasture this afternoon. I’m hoping they took a stroll through the barn while they were out exploring. There’s plenty of hay there for them to bed down in for the night, plus the protection the walls will give them from the wind.

Here’s a snippet of a quick little project I have going. It’s part of my “new year” goals. I’ve been wanting to make a chapbook, and so I am. The pic is from simplebooklet. It’s an app I found on google chrome. You can make all kinds of little booklets with it and post them on facebook, blogs, etc. It’s super cool and really easy.

Anyway, if I get all my toons redrawn tonight and scanned in to the laptop, I should be done tomorrow. : ) So, I guess I better get going.

Those shiny things rock!

That’s my problem. I really love shiny things. Shiny things are the newest thing that comes out and looks super cool. Most of the time they are super cool, but not always.

So, this year my goal is to avoid the shiny things and use what I have. That includes using the tools my laptop came with and not searching around for something cooler and shinier to download and take up much needed space on my hard drive.

My Toshiba laptop came with some pretty cool stuff. Microsoft finally got its act together and gave a free version of all you need with Microsoft Office Starter. For once, it won’t expire.

It has a cool sticky notes program and snippet tool, and I’ve even grown to like google chrome and started using the apps that work with it. I like it! I’m organised and set.

I’ve even set a limit on how many programs I load. Most are for learning (biblical hebrew, talmud, talmudic aramaic, modern hebrew, torah, etc), and I’ve got a couple rpg games (Fate).

This new laptop could possibly go down as the only focused computer I’ve ever owned. lol

Alas poor Mountain Rex, I knew him well...

No more riding MR until his wheels are trued. I didn't realise how bad they were until I set my bike up on the stand in the living room and got it under an overhead light. Wow! No wonder I can't get the brakes properly lined. So, now the task at hand is to take off both wheels and take them to Athens Bike Shop and have them trued. Hopefully, it won't cost a fortune.

When I was reading the customer reviews for this bike, there was a guy there who said he had to have the wheels trued when he got his. A bunch of others didn't. Another guy had to completely replace the breaking system.

All of this leads me to say, Mongoose, even though this is your extremely low end, dirt cheap, bike - you guys could at least send the wheels trued.

Off to begin the first stage of editing my nanowrimo.

Mountain Rex's First Big Adventure!

Took Mountain Rex on his first ride to Walmart. We got splashed by a big truck, then MR decided, "Hey! Let's just splash ourselves!" as we rode through a deep pool of cold water on the road. Needless to say, it was an interesting ride.

The best part about the 23 mile trip was having awesome suspension. Next, would be my right knee not hurting. I've never had a trip in yet where I didn't think my right knee would be shredded. Quite a few people who ride bent bikes all have the same problem - trying to find the right way to pedal without our knees hurting. So far, I've not mastered it.

On the downside, that bloody seat on the mountain bike, even with the new gel cover, is nothing short of brutal. It was ok for the first 12 miles, but after that it was hell on earth getting back.

All in all, though, it was a great trip. I could ride as aggressively as I wanted without worrying about killing the bike, and I got to enjoy getting out of the cottage after days of rain, and countless hours at the computer hammering out my nanowrimo novel, which got done 8 days ahead of time.

It’s been a tough year.

Parents, Kids and Pets

The title should really be irresponsible parents, their irresponsible kids and killing pets for no reason, other than it’s a tradition or trend to have a particular pet. Prepare for my k’vetch.

To my right, across the yard, in a pen is a dying dog named Emmy. Emmy is the by-product of a couple kids saying, “Oh she’s so cute!!! I want her!!!” Of course, in this generation of see, want, buy – the kids get the pet. The parents know full well, unless they’re in some sort of sick denial, that their kids are irresponsible, and will not take care of the pet.

However, the kids will run around telling everyone how wonderful their pet is and how much the love the pet they totally ignore. The irresponsible parent’s try to pass the buck by saying, “If you get the puppy or kitten, you’re responsible to take care of it. We’re not helping you.” So when the moment comes that the pet needs to go to the vet, the parent will say, “I told you, it’s your responsibility. We don’t have the money to take your pet to the vet.” However, there’s always plenty of money to waste it on constantly eating out, rather than actually cooking a respectable meal.

Meanwhile, the pet suffers because no one wants to take responsibility.

It’s shameful. People like that have no business having a pet. It’s cruelty to animals – literally.

So! I’m taking care of the pet and trying to get it put to sleep. Unfortunately, not being able to drive and living 8 miles from the vet I can’t get it there myself. I know very few people and none of them are available to help me get Emmy to the vet. If it wasn’t for me, Emmy would have no water. Emmy would have no food, because she can’t eat unless she’s hand-fed. It’s shameful and right now I’m absolutely furious over the whole thing.

Sadly, same person who has the dog, is about to kill a sweet little cat as well, while all the while claiming (as the dog has been) how much they love the cat and can’t wait to take it home……blah blah blah….so they can kill through neglect. I hate to see this little cat die. It’s precious, and thankfully I’ve gotten to care for it over a month, so at least it’s had a good life, which is something it won’t experience later. I hate this. And right now, I’m hating every irresponsible person in the family for being abusive to animals.

Stupid, idiotic, irresponsible, moronic, immature, redneck trash.

There, I’ve had my k’vetch and I feel a little bit better.

I’m sorry little Lillie, I wish I could protect you from the horrible fate that awaits you. I wish I could stop it. You don’t deserve what they’ll do to you.

The farm is the 3 fields that look like a golf course, plus all the woods which goes back a bit further on the right than what’s shown. It comes to 300 acres. If you look southwest of the pushpin tip, there’s a cluster of white buildings nestled in that little corner of trees. That’s where I live. If you squint really hard, you can see the pond east of the tip. : )

Maybe it’s the heat that's getting to me, because otherwise I can’t come up with any other excuse for why I’m not being productive. I’ve had so many opportunities lately, but nothing is getting done. The thing is, for every day that I don’t meet my goals – I lose money. But as the honey badger t-shirt says, “DON’T CARE!” Way too much of me really doesn’t care. That’s scary.

Feeling like a geezer

Ever since last Wednesday I’ve been so sleepy. I can be sitting in a chair and wake up whenever wondering when the heck I fell asleep. Took till today for me to figure it out – it’s taking my bloody meds in the morning. Lamictol makes me sleepy. Zanaflex makes me sleepy. I’m taking them both at the same time. No wonder I can’t keep awake. LOL

Meanwhile, Alex the Farting Cat is doing his best to keep me awake – or trying to make me pass out.

Deadly noxious fumes keep seeping from his butt, which is strategically located directly below my nose.

The Return of Bent Rex!

With Scooter Rex down and in the repair shop, I've had to pull Bent Rex out again. I've avoided him like the plague because of my right knee being blown out and still giving me problems from a couple years ago when I was nearly taken down by 3 dogs hell bent on killing me.

But now, I don't really have a choice but put the ol' guy back in action. Out of curiosity today, I decided to pull up my old records from bikejournal.com and see what my best year was and figure out how many miles I've ridden.

2005 - 1,057.57 miles
2006 - 465.86
2008 - 28
2011 - 10.60

Total: 1,562.03 miles (That's almost as many as I have on Scooter Rex.)

The missing years are ones where I either didn't feel good due to Dystonia or my right knee was too squishy to ride with or the dogs got the best of me and I just didn't see the point in being eaten alive.

What surprised me by the figures was how many miles I managed to pull of in 2005 when I didn't feel all that great. Can't wait to see what I can do in 2011 or what's left of it. : )

Been Awhile!

Been awhile since I last posted. I've been super busy: painting the cottage, replacing broken windows, tearing out a floor, rebuilding it, installing a new hot water heater, built a feral shelter for the cats, repaired mom's table stand, and a bunch of other fixer-upper stuff. I'm looking forward to winter so I can kick back and take it easy. : )

Anyway, as I promised Lo, here are some pics of the bathroom disaster:

This first two pics are the disaster that had to go.

At this point, I'd ripped the floor tiles out.

If you look closely, you'll see stints trying to hold the water heater up. They didn't work. I ended up putting 2x4 pieces between the heater and wall. It worked pretty good.

The lovely floor after tearing out the toilet & hot water heater. The board that ran along the bottom had been eaten out by termites. That's what caused the whole thing to collapse. The tough part was since the plywood had set in water for so long it had pretty much turned to thick glue. All my tools were sticky as can be.

Better view of the mess. The portable replacement floor I made is from scrap wood that was left when my brother remodeled his house and wood from my handicap ramp I took down. Yip that wheel you see in the upper right hand corner is my walker. : )

The end result. Mom had a lot of leftover linoleum from when she had her bathroom remodeled, so I put that down. I still need to tear out the rest of the tiles and finish with the linoleum, but that can wait. I'm in no hurry. LOL

Anyway, I love my little tank. It's 30 gallons. I wanted a 20 gallon one, but no one had it, so this little baby is mine.

So, there you have it folks! A week long project that made me rue the day I was born. LOL

A wrench in the works

P90 has been on hold for the past several weeks. I found I can't workout and work on the cottage at the same time. P90 takes too much out of me. bummer. Anyway, the cottage is looking great. This past week the termite dude came and killed off the termites and carpenter ants. Can't even begin to tell you how great that one is to go in the kitchen and not see an army of ants lined up under the cat food bowl.

A part from that, absolutely nothing is going on except a 2 day old headache. Waiting for it to cool and mom's running me to Jim's to pick up a coke. Coke is about the only thing that works awhile.
Tomorrow is pay day. My entertainment budget is set for a beading loom, cardstock paper and pens. I'm trying to make pop-up cards to mail to a friend every month. She loves my cat toons, so I've spent part of the day coming up with weird and gross ideas. (evil grin)

Welp, that's it. I've got some toons I'd like to post, but I'll do that when my head quits hurting.

Of Werewolves and Cats

There's a show on BBCA called "Being Human." Awesome show about a vampire, ghost and werewolf who are all roommates. To make a long story short, this past week the werewolf decided to put a cage in a room and take tranquilizers so that when he transforms he'll be in a safe place, won't kill anyone and sleep through the whole thing.

It worked! Well, at least until the next day when he discovered there were side-effects. For no apparent reason, he would begin yelling out cuss words. He'd try putting his hand over his mouth, but the stuff still flew. At days end, he told his roommates that the werewolf in him felt deprived, cheated because it hadn't been allowed to do it's thing.

I feel a bit like that this week. Since Bindi died, I haven't been able to really grieve. It's impossible when people are constantly around you. Thankfully, this morning was different. Mom was finally back in school and Sklya had her first day of school out near the high school. I had the farm to myself. Just me and the cats. Bliss.

So, I'm lying on the futon watching tv and one of the kittens hops up on the arm of the futon and begins cleaning itself, occasionally licking my head. That's what Bindi used to do. He would lick and lick my head till that one spot was soaked. He was so funny.

Anyway, I broke down and cried. It felt good to finally cry when a memory made me want to. It felt good to finally get it out.

While I was crying, I realised something important. My heart, like George's werewolf, has felt deprived in not being able to do it's thing - grieve, but unlike George's werewolf, my body didn't respond with sudden outbursts of anger and hilarious outbursts of cussing. My body responded in the only way it knows how - by sending my Dystonia into fits. Once I was able to cry, with the freedom of knowing I wasn't going to be interrupted, my body began to feel better.

Of course it wasn't just Bindi that was sending my body into chaos, there were a couple secondary things as well, but the main one was holding in emotions that needed to express themselves. It's a lesson worth remembering.

A Tribute to Bindi Sue

Bindi has been missing since Friday. He's never been gone this long and since Chubby passed on around the end of July, I thought I'd go ahead and write up Bindi's tribute. If I'm lucky he'll show up after I post this. I wrote Tiger's twice and he died two years later. Hoping the same for this one. : )

Anyway, Bindi & his siblings were born the month before Steve Irwin died. I didn't have names for the kittens yet, so thinking Bindi was a girl (he was so hairy I couldn't tell), he was named after Bindi Sue Irwin, of whom was name after a crocodile. And that's how Bindi became the boy name Sue. (His sister was named Little Stevie. Jeffie the Mighty was named after Jeff Corwin. Then there was the oddball, Pee Wee, named after a friend of the family.)

Bindi loved to go on hiking trips. Every time he saw me go near the gate to the lower pasture he dived under the fence and looked back to see if I was coming. A number of chipmunks lost their lives on those trips. He also loved the teepee.

Bindi loved to curl up in the snow.

Then sit by the base heater to get warm. Sadly, he kept singeing the hair off his tail and I had to ditch the base heater.

This past year was pretty tough for Bindi. November 2009, he managed to break his tail. The vets said it's the worst break they had ever seen and were surprised Bindi lived. It left his backside really tender and he'd cry out everytime one of the other cats touched him. He also developed an allergy that led to his skin becoming scaley. So, it's been a tough year.

The vet had told me before that if people want their pets to live - keep them indoors. I tried for almost a full 4 years with Bindi, but he began to rebel. Around May, I think, he finally got his way and I started letting him out at nite. It was the only way to get any sleep, literally. I hated doing it, but I hated not sleeping even more.

Kelly (vet) said the life expectancy of an outside animal is 1 - 3 years. Bindi made it about 3. It's really annoying how life goes. Even among humans the good die and the jerks get to live long annoying lives. Bindi was a sweetheart, and evil Kitty, jerky Spotty and that stupid black cat who keeps trying to beat up Jeffie live on.

I miss you little buddy.

A grumpy sunday

This has been a pretty crappy weekend and therefore read no further because I'm goina k'vetch. Actually, it's been a crappy summer. The heat and humidity have been so intense that I've had to stay in to keep my dystonia from giving me fits.

I miss the outdoors, which is why I'm k'vetching. I tried going outside about 15 minutes ago, but it's still 87 at 70% humidity. bummer. I wanted to sit outside so I could sketch and paint. Not happening.

Getting my Power 90 workouts in has also been tough. Even with the a/c running and the fan blowing on me, the heat is still intense. Of course, part of that could also be menopause. LOL Anyway, right now - I'm living for the first snowfall. : )

On the interesting side, yesterday I was reading, "The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady." The diary is from her entries in 1909. For August she said that it had rained most of the month, but in England it was the sunniest on record. Sunniest = driest. I'm sure somewhere there was probably a little idiot yelling, "Global warming!!!" rather than accepting the reality that seasonal tortures come and go. : )

Anyway, that's my k'vetch for the nite. tootles!

Power 90 - Day 31: sculpting and it's still hot

Two degrees cooler than last nights workout. This time it was only 80. : ) Anyway, BBCA is running a Primeval marathon today and I couldn't bring myself to shut it off and workout to the P90 dvd. So, I went by the book and added some extra stuff and had a great time! I even felt more exhausted than I do when I workout with the dvd. Sweet! : ) Once more, though, I really wished I had the P90X.

Yes, I'll probably order it long before I'm finished with P90. I was reading on twitter that some other folks made the switch before they finished P90 as well. Would I recommend P90? Yes, if you were totally out of shape, of which I'm not. That's a happy thought! : )

Power 90 - Day 30 update

Day 30 was a tough workout. It was freaking hot in the cottage - 82. Even with the fan running on me and the a/c going I still had to take breaks inbetween rounds. But! I completed my mission and got it done. Proud beyond words. It's hard to workout in the heat.

Worked out to the Fat Burning dvd. It's still my fave. The regular Power 90 dvd's are a bit boring, but I think that's because of the dull backgrounds. It rather sucks the life out of you. Anyway, looking forward to day 31.

Power 90 - the journey so far

Welp, did my second set of pics yesterday. Didn't see much difference, but the important thing I did notice is that I looked stronger in the way I stood. I looked a bit wimpy in my first set of pics, so I'm really proud of that.

Last week was tough. I was having major fatigue attacks and only got in about 3 days training. I tried on the other days, but just didn't have the strength. When you can barely do any yoga and simply fall to the mat and hope you can get up again, ROFL, it's time to take a break.

Last nite, sculpting, I didn't get to my workout until 10 pm. It went great and I felt really strong, so missing those 3 days was no big deal.

Still wrestling with my diet. Working hard this week to keep to the mission.

To keep myself motivated, I'm listening to Billy Blanks motivational CD's. They're great when you need that extra push. I really like Tony Horton, but Blanks still rocks when it comes to helping you work from the inside out. That's the secret to succeeding and sometimes you need someone to push you in this area to keep you from just going through the motions.

Anyway, looking for this to be a great week!

Power 90: Day 24 - Sculpting

Picked up an RF modulator today so I can finally use my dvd player in the living room. Working out in my dark bedroom, on a hard floor with no a/c has been tough. Anyway, tonite, for the first time since I started P90, I got to workout in my well lit living room, in a/c on a carpeted floor. It made all the difference in the world. : )

What surprised me most about my workout is that Rex stopped on me in Rutland and I had to push him about 1.7 miles home. That's pushing a little over 200 pounds that far. I was dead on my feet and made a dash for the shower when I got in to cool down. So, that makes me all the more proud of tonite's workout. : )

As for yesterday - impossible. Dystonia fatigue ruled the day. Bummer. But! I tried twice, with two different dvd's trying to find one that I might still be able to workout with. I failed on each, but that's cool.

Power 90: Day 22 - Sculpting

True confession, didn't really want to do my workout early this morning. I had really enjoyed my day off over Shabbos and wanted to drag the break out another day. But! Then I did a measurements check and thought they stunk. So! I gave my workout everything I had. : )

Sometimes all it takes is looking at the stats and deciding if you want to be the one who didn't do well with Power 90. lol I examined everything I'd been doing that was holding me back from better progress, and it all came down to my diet and not enough moving around during the day. So, this week, the menus are planned out and new batteries are in the recumbent exercise bike so I can track my time.

Next Monday, is my next picture taking day. I want to see some signs of improvement.

Tribute to Mrs. Rice

Mrs. Rice passed on today. B"H, there was no suffering, just fall down and gone. I'd like to go that way, or in my sleep. Just quick and simple.

Mrs. Rice was probably the coolest old lady you could meet. She always had a big smile and always willing to lend a hand. She always looked happy, even a couple years ago when she lost her oldest daughter, several months later her husband, several months later her oldest son and not too long after that - she lost a son-in-law. She still gave you a big happy smile.

One of the things I remember growing up, is her home was always open and you never knew what to expect when you went it. Like, you might find flour all over the kitchen (literally), where her girls were experimenting with cooking. LOL She never minded it and thought it was great.

She also raised great kids who were just like her - always a big smile no matter how bad things are and always willing to lend a hand.

I feel deeply for her daughter Rosemary right now. She has not only lost her sister, brother, dad and her husband, in the past couple years but now her mom, who she moved in with after her own husband died.

Mrs. Rice admired her Rosemary. When she was bringing me back with Conner from the vet, she said she couldn't get over how Rosemary could always look happy, always be laughing no matter how unhappy she was or how bad she hurt. Well, Mrs Rice, she got it from you and that's one wonderful gift to pass on to your children.

You'll be missed.

Power 90 Day 20 - aerobics!

Celebrating! The ol' stroke-beaten, dystonia body has made it 3 weeks as of today. Three weeks, 6 days a week! A week from Monday I take my second set of pictures. That's a scary thought. LOL Anyway, it went great and I felt terrific afterwards. I think a lot has to do with not only my body slowly adjusting to the new schedule, but downing vitamins.

I'm taking:

multi-vitamin
calcium/magnesium/D-3
CoQ10
B12
Vitamin C with rose hips

Anyway, it's helped me go from having to take a nap afterwards, to doing what I did today:

Ride scooter in town to deliver AVON & pick up litter.
Work in mom's garden, clearing & picking green beans & tomatoes.
Clearing my garden.
Hauling debris to the compost bin.
Sanitizing the litterbox.
Hand-washing my sleeping bag.

I'm impressed! : )

adventuring with cats

I've been reading a book here lately called "Radical Simplicity." The guy talks about simplifying our lives, solitude and enjoying nature. The more I read, the more it intensified the longing to get back to Good Medicine Camp.

GMC is a spot on our hillside, not far up the ravine from the pond. I found a rare flat spot on the right that would allow me to pitch some form of shelter and watch wildlife making their way down to the pond.

With the aid of my boy scout handbook (1918) edition, I created various shelters with my big blue tarp and baling twine. My favourite was my tepee! You can see pictures of it here. Jeffie, Bindi & Squeeky loved it. They would play outside in the snow and run in to warm up by the fire. They would either curl up on the evergreen bows I'd dragged up from the yard or crawl onto my lap and keep my legs warm.

But, thanks to the coyote, wild dogs & the stupid neighbours dogs, we haven't made our daily trips in a couple years. It's become too dangerous to take the cats. Yeah, there's no limit to immediate escape routes, but I still worry when they go up there alone. Anyway, the cats miss those times and so do I. How do I know they miss it? Because every time I go near the barn, the 3 of them run for the lower pasture and look back to see if I'm coming.

So, now I'm looking at creating a hobbit hole on the front part of the hillside. I wanted a hobbit hole a couple years ago, but I think now I can pull it off. It's a great location and gives a full view of the valley. The grass & weeds are too high now, but come Fall I should get to work on it. Looking forward to posting pics when the work begins. : )

And if that falls through - there's always another tepee. : )

Power 90: Day 19 - phase 3 sculpting

Moved up to phase 3 this morning just to see what it was like and how well I'd do. I did great! I think this is what I've been needing to do all along. I wasn't out of shape when I began P90, but my joints and that irritating right knee kept me doing the first two phases for 18 days. Phase 1 & 2 workouts will be perfect for those days that I just don't have it in me, so the dvds won't go on the shelf and get dusty. : ) Super stoked to get P90X. Two months to go and it's mine (iy"h)! : )

As for my body on this one. Blasting out the push ups naturally sent a bit of pain through me, but I think it was just a natural pain from the push ups themselves. Same with blasting out the squats. The difference came about a 45 minutes later when I was over at mom's. My quads suddenly spazed out on me and I was holding on for dear life. That pain I know very well! : )

Anyway, one more workout for the week and that's tomorrow. Using the fat burning vid again for cardio. Next week I'll start using the phase 3 dvd aerobics.

Power 90 - Day 18 - Sweat

This week I'm changing the routine a bit. The regular cardio dvd is great, but not all that exciting. So, this week, I changed off and started using the "Power 90 Fat Burning System", which is an extra video in the set. I love it!!!! It's fun! It's exciting! It's just plan cool! AND! I get to use my medicine ball!

First of all, it's filmed in Hawaii, where the other video is in a plain room with a blue background & two assistants who look bored to death. P90 FBS dvd has a lot of happy people in the background who are really going at it. That's much more inspiring.

Any who, I'm going to stick with that one for cardio for at least another week. Then I'll use it once a week to break up the monotony. : )

So, excellent sweat-to-death workout. Can't wait till tomorrow. I'm going to try the next level up on sculpting just to see how it goes.

Today's bright side - I've lost 1/2" off my waist. : )

Power 90 - Day 15: circuit

Last week was tough, between fatigue & a nasty sinus headache, I really struggled to get my workouts in. If I wasn't so determined not to miss a single day, I would have surrendered during the headache. But I'm proud of me for hanging in there and giving it the best I could. : )

On to today! Increased the dumbbell weights this week. Using my 10lb db's. Pushups are easier. Right knee still giving me fits, but adjusted the lunges today to compensate and it did wonders. Going back to using the bent exercise bike daily, it was the only thing strengthening that knee up.

Right elbow did pretty good today. If I pay more attention to placement & form it will help. Also adding my regular yoga dvd's to the routine a couple times a week and my P90 coach said I can use the other dvd that came with the set for a little mix up with aerobics. Probably using that one tomorrow for the fun of it. : )

All in all, excited to be starting week 3. : )

Power 90: Day 11 - sweat

Workout done and gone! It was great. Kept a good pace so I didn't have to stop. Didn't feel like working out when I first got up. I was sore from the day before and tired. I didn't sleep much last night. Anyway, I'm proud of me for having at it. Can't wait till the end of the 90 days to order P90X. : )

Yesterday I finally signed up with the online program at beachbody. It's pretty cool. I also have a coach who contacted me last nite. That was pretty neat.

Anyway, lots to do today. We're under flood watch and I need to get the ditch cleared so the water doesn't pick up the debris and cause a jam in the old batman tunnel. : )

Power 90: Day 10 - sculpting

Awesome day! Lower back hurt really bad this morning, so I did 20 minutes of yoga zone power yoga before doing my P90 sculpt. Really loosened the back and arms up. I might continue doing yoga as a warm up to P90. The warm up on the P90 program isn't really enough to loosen me up to workout without problems. Yoga is the perfect solution.

Found out last night that my heart rate monitor has left a nasty heat rash. I was lathered in baby diaper rash ointment last nite. LOL The stuff works great. Can't wait till I'm healed up. The monitor is a must, so I've got to come up with a real solution to the problem.

Anyway, brilliant workout! Proud of me! : )

Power 90 Day 9 - sweat

Today was awesome! Felt great and strong. Really surprised considering yesterday I didn't get to workout until about 7PM. That workout, btw, was absolutely awful. I had to hit pause a couple times and thought I'd bite the dust. Gave it my best though.

Today's excellent workout made up for the bad day. Need to watch my diet more. I'm not doing bad on it, but I could do better.

So glad shabbos starts in under an hour. It means I don't have to workout tomorrow. LOL

Today's workout was a killer. The last time I had to use the pause button was the first day of my adventure. But today was tough. I was tired, despite having gone to bed at a respectable time. I did great through the punching, but that was about it. I gave it my best though and really proud that I didn't give up. I'm determined this is going to work. The extra weight has to go so I can feel good again.

Right knee felt a little weird. Had to back off the right side kicks and not do as many.

Anyway, off to finish getting ready for Shabbos, and hopefully get a little cartooning in before lighting.

Power 90 - Day 5

Tomorrow ends my first week of Power 90. I have yet to lose a single pound, but so what. Push-ups were much easier today, except for that one set where I couldn't push myself off the floor and I lay laughing because it reminded me of falling out of my wheelchair and not being able to get up. LOL (long pause) I don't miss that thing.

Anyway, it's been a good week. Tiring, but good. My body is having to adjust to a schedule it's not fond of, but it's learning. My right knee is a lot stronger than 5 days ago & I did lunges today with no problems. B"H.

Looking forward to tomorrows aerobic workout. But! I admit, I'm looking more forward to Shabbos. : )

Power 90 - Day 2

Totally underestimated today's workout - and that's an understatement. When I watched the vid earlier it didn't look like the workout was going to be that big a deal. I watched and never winced once. Where every time I watched a Tae Bo Boot Camp vid, I winced through the entire thing. So, the Power 90 In-Home Boot Camp sweat day was going to be nothing. Ha! The joke was on me.

I lost track how many times I had to hit the pause button because I was going at it too hard. Glad I was alone because it was beginning to get embarrassing.

Another shocker was it's the first time I had chest pains when working out. I slowed down considerably after that. Kinda freaked me out.

Any who, really liked the power yoga part & of course the "martial arts" part. Power yoga showed me how inflexible I've allowed myself to become again. Martial arts? Bang on. : )

Gave myself a 10 for today's workout. I gave it my best and learned a lot about the shape my body is in. I've obviously not been pushing hard enough in my own made-up workouts with my: total gym, gazelle, medicine ball and kettlebells. Wait! Correct that. Aerobically I haven't been going at it hard enough or at least not hard enough to keep up with the sweat vid for Power 90.

Also, left out what I learned yesterday about eating. Going back to the P90x chart to track my food, & eating 3 snacks/day, not 2. It should make a big difference & I won't overeat. : )

So, tomorrow's workout is back to sculpting. Note to self: Keep watching that form. Slow down. Focus. Breathe. : )

Power 90 - Let the torture begin....

Day 1

Today was Day 1 of my Power 90 workout. Today was body sculpting. My weakness is push-ups. I hate them. I liked them in high school when I could do any push-up variation you could ask for, but that was many moons ago. : ) Anyway, I was able to keep up with everything but push-ups & my muscles started acting funny during triceps press, otherwise it was great. : )

On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give my diet a 4. I wasn't really that bad, I just decided I'd punish myself with a low score because I didn't fully hold to the diet. I kept snacking on dried bananas & dried cherries toward late afternoon. I couldn't figure out why I was so hungry until I remembered I'd taken a b12 pill. That explained everything. Tomorrow, I'll leave out the B12 & I'll score a 10!

Looking forward to day 2 - aerobics. : )

One of the things about having a stroke is it does something interesting to your emotions. You stop caring. You lose your ability to feel emotionally. You don't lose it completely, but it does a bloody good job of putting on the brakes.

You can feel angry. You can feel frustration. You can feel confusion. You can feel loneliness. You can feel loss, but only in the sense of missing things from the past. At least that's how I am and others that I know.

So what brought up this lastest ramble? I got a phone call this morning and I was sharing some stuff that was necessary for her to understand so she would know how to help a particular person out. Turns out she didn't believe the info was necessary and she was certain she could help the person out just fine without knowing the facts.

Have you ever tried helping someone without knowing the facts? "Hi! I want to help you, but don't tell me what the problem is."

Can you imagine a doctor wanting to help a patient, but doesn't want to know what their symptoms are? "Don't tell me anything! I'll have you fixed up in no time."

Anyway, she went on a vent to the point I almost hung up, but didn't. I hung in there till I could change the conversation. It worked and we were back on track.

I realised again that we're not really friends. Friends can talk to each other about stuff. They can share without being judged. You can talk things through with one another and find solutions. You're a team.

I miss my friendships that were like that. But with this one, I could take it or leave it.   If she had said she'll never call again, it would have been fine with me.

Back to not being able to feel.   Past relationships - I can feel. But the present ones - I feel nothing. It's easy to walk away. It's easy to say I don't care.

I miss being able to feel.

Jeffie's Plot Fails

The new kittens are getting creative in finding places to hang out. This morning I found them up underneath my youngest nephew's truck. I'd like to think that Jeffie was keeping an eye on them, since he was relaxing under the truck as well. But, I think if truth be told - he talked them into climbing on the tires hoping the truck would move and run them over.

Anyway, it wasn't long before Justin showed up. I raced out the door to stop him from taking off. It was a good thing too, because one of the bigger cats was taking his good old time coming out. So, Jeffie nearly got his wish today. I'm sure he's depressed, but he'll snap out of it and try again. LOL

I was reading someone's tweet on twitter today and they were trying to find a way to swear that wouldn't offend anyone. She chose the word "shittu". I got to thinking, "Hey! I hate dogs! Let's use one for a swear word!" And there you have it. It's not an original idea, but I don't care. I can now say the following without offending!

It's been a cool (cold actually) and busy day. Blackie has been attacking everyone like crazy, so I moved his winter feral home to the side of the cottage. It's now stuffed inside a medium size dog igloo with his heating pad. It's almost as warm in there as it is in the cottage.

From there, I started renovating the dog pen where my nephew kept his annoying dog for awhile. I'm turning it into a greenhouse (GH from here out). It was the only solution I could come up with that would keep the cats out of the plants when I put them out to harden.

It's also going to be my herb garden. Yip! The only way to keep the cats from digging up the plants and keep Jeffie from spraying them. Some will go in raised beds and the others in pots. If there's room I'd like to put in a cold frame. BTW, the cold frame pic above isn't mine. I just put it up for those who don't know what a cold frame looks like.

Next, was transfer all the stuff I'll be using in the GH, pots, trays, etc. from the side of the cottage to their new home.

In between I tinkered with the compost pile, straightened up my tools in the barn and got my youngest nephew to get the hand plow down from the side of the old shed and put it in the barn, and put a new pile of hay over the cats garden. (hand plow is identical to mine, but the pic came from elsewhere.)

Wish I'd had thought of filming the cat fights over the catnip I planted for them last year. They were wild! LOL

Weather permitting, I'll try to get some pics of my little projects tomorrow. : )

Little Bo's Morning of Horror

This morning I let Little Bo out to play. She was having fun fooling around in the morning glory, which creeps up one of the posts on the porch. While she was being her usual silly self - it happened. Jeff knocked everything off the bookcase, sending it crashing to the floor. On the way down, Jeff collided with my telescope. It smashed into the arm of the futon and the lenses went flying across the floor.

Little Bo was in a panic. She couldn't run inside like the night before when she got scared, because that's where the racket was coming from. The only option left was to make a mad dash for the shed. Wrong move. In a flash, Squeeky was hot on her trail. Then Chubby! Followed by Spotty! It was a mess. Thankfully, Little Bo managed to dodge them all.

Meanwhile, I shot after Jeff yelling at him for possibly ruining nearly four weeks of training Little Bo. He's on my black list for the day.

I spent the next hour trying every trick in the book to get Little Bo back inside. I even tried trapping her again. It didn't work. In the end, I had to surrender to taking the trash down before the garbage truck came. It was the best move of the morning. Jeff and Bindi followed me into the cottage and Little Bo came right behind.

So, that's been my morning. I'm still mad at Jeff. Little Bo is hiding under my bed and I'm finally off to finish breakfast and grab a cuppa tea. : )

So tonite I'm out with Little Bo trying to work on the "trust" factor, when up pops Blackie, her mom, who happens not to be her mom, but one of her dads. Yes, I finally got a good view of Blackie and Blackie has balls!

So go figure. Since when do male cats raise kittens? He took three kittens, to my door and showed them where to get food. When LB was lost or wherever LB was, He crazy trying to find her.

So who is the mom? I'm guessing it's Kitty. When Kitty gave birth to the original crowd, she was the worst mother on earth - she kept trying to kill them and I had to make her lie down and feed the little buggers.

This time, if they are really hers, she totally abandoned them and left them to the father. LoL

So that's the latest on LB and her totally dysfunctional family.

BTW, she's trying really hard to get as physically close to me as she can. She got within a few feet of me tonight and hung with me all evening. That was cool. : )

Revenge is sweet

This morning the masked bandit family bit the dust. Jerry didn't answer his phone this morning, as usual, and he's heading for Cols for the weekend, so I shot them. Not Jerry and his wife - I shot the coons.

Surprisingly, it didn't bother me one bit. Last nite I'd stepped out onto the porch and all 4 started growling and charged me.

Then one slipped around the side of the cottage and I heard a cat cry out, which meant it got attacked.

Then this morning, one played Houdini and escaped. It attacked Jeff. So, after watching all that happened, I realised they really were the ones who killed the kittens.

That's what made it easy to shoot them. Revenge. I don't care what anyone says - revenge is sweet and I feel quite happy now.

That probably sounds cruel, but for the past few days Blackie has been scouring Little Bo's hangouts crying for him. It's heartbreaking.

On an interesting note. They killed 3 kittens. I killed 3 small coons, plus their mother. When I killed her, I said, "That's for breaking their mother's heart." And bang.

If I'd only listened to mom to begin with the kittens would still be alive. She kept saying shoot the coons. But nooooo, I had to be compassionate and tell mom I couldn't shoot or trap the mother because she had kids.

Oddly, she showed up with the whole family, got trapped and now they're gone.

It's nice to know I don't have to worry about the cats being attacked for awhile. I won't get into how much money I'll save in cat food, as they were eating everything that went out.

Now if the possum who showed up last nite behaves - we'll have some peace at the cottage. : )

The Squeeky Bandits Gang

Outside in what I call the jail, Spotty spends a lot of time there here lately, are 3 young coons. In a live trap next to their jail cell, is their mom. It took awhile to get her trapped. She was slightly shy since I'd already trapped her twice in the past 5 days. But she's trapped nonetheless.

I caught them eating all the cat food on the porch. I'd put out extra food for Blackie the Gimp. Anyway, I couldn't make them leave. They haven't learned that humans are to be feared yet. So I left them to the food.

I checked on them a little bit later and low and behold, in the big water pan was one of the little ones enjoying a good bath. Well, it wasn't really a bath, it had it's little paws going along the bottom feeling for food. It was kinda funny, if you forgot the cats drink from that thing. Crikey! How many nights have those naughty little beasts been sticking their stinky butt and feet in there? Oy!

Anyway, once they left the porch, I tried to scare them off with my pistol. They never budged. It was like I'd never done a thing. Why is that? I think it's because they hear guns going off all the time. If they lived in a wood that was quiet, the loud sounds would have scared them off. Sadly, they live in a very noisy world. Not only with audio, but light noise as well. There's no place in this section of the valley that's dark. There's street lights every where.

The lack of genuine darkness has changed their eating and foraging habits. Nocturnals now spend almost as much time, it seems, hunting by day as by night.

Anyway, off my theories and on to tomorrow. I have to call Jerry before he leaves for Columbus. I need him to help me ditch the coons before he goes to Columbus for the weekend. Who knows, maybe his wife would be interested in seeing the young ones before they go. He has the truck, so it should be an easy transport.

What I like is that they'll be relocated as a family. On the other hand, if they're the ones who killed my precious Bo, I hope someone shoots them all.

A morning quickie!

Hey all! Little Bo is still alive, I think. At least he was last night. I named him Little Bo, the kitten in Julie Andrews Edwards book. Ok, if you've ever read the book, Little Bo is a girl, BUT Bo can also be a boys name, so this isn't like Bindi having a girls name. That was an accident of him being too long-haired to see his weenie. LOL

Anyway, still trying to get close enough to get a pic. No luck yet.

Now for a k'vetch. I hate July 4. The neighbours will be shooting fireworks off for an enternity. One landed a few feet from my bedroom window. I wasn't happy.

I was luckier than my Uncle Mick in Middleport. One sailed right into his attic window. That brought the cops over real quick like. Mick, the guy who was launching literally several thousand dollars worth off in the old football field will be paying for that one.

I've been afraid one may land on one of the cats or deer. An object shaped like an arrow and sinks deep in the ground when it lands will penetrate an animal with no problem.

Anyway, that's the weekend news. Oh wait! One more thing. My Aunt Mimmie gave me $50 to put towards my mini-laptop! I'm one super happy camper! : )

I'm following this 16 year old kid in England on Twitter. Everyone loves this kid. He has great ideas and is such a go getter. Tonite he asked the question that still has me giggling because it's so cute. He wanted to know:

"What was Michael Jackson?"

YES!!! I love it!!! All this hullabaloo about Jackson being known world wide and who couldn't possibly know who Jackson was and here's this little kid, somewhere in Liverpool, England who doesn't know.

Good boy, Joel! You never missed a thing. : )

On to other stuff! I was really worried today because I hadn't seen the kittens since early yesterday morning. I even went hunting for them. Then, tonight I went out to put a little more food in their bowl and add fresh water. Just as I got round the corner to where I feed them, I saw a tiny little bottom, with it's tail straight up, hopping through the high grass into the barn. LOL It was sooo cute!!! I wish I'd had my video cam!

That was today's highlight. The rest was me trying to stay awake from being up most of the night because of the cats and because the room was too quiet. Tonite I should sleep really well. I found my fan and it's running now. : )

Outa here for the night. I'm trying to organise me lil' office. It's a mess. Too many papers and projects mixed together. yuck.

Not much more to say. I've updated my Avon blogs and am getting ready to do a major clean on my living room. Starting with the ceiling and ceiling fan. Did I mention I hate cleaning ceiling fans? : )

My trip to Walmart was super exciting. I bought Wacky Mac (kosher version of mac n' cheese), and spent the rest of the day whining because they ran out of my Bamba peanut butter snacks and Osem Mediterranean Pickles. The scumbags. Shame on them.

(History of OU, according to the Yo.) OU was founded in 1804. They chose Athens because there was this lovely place to eat on the corner of Court & Union called the Burrito Chuck Wagon!

It proved to be a convenient and cheap place for the 2.5 students to eat at and in time, a franchise of Burrito Chuck Wagons began. The franchise was started, as I'm sure you're curious to know, by the .5 student who tended to be overlooked because of his .5-ness.

And more trivia for enquiring minds - .5 used to be 1.0, until the Burrito Chuck Wagon's emergency brake broke and .5 of him was squished beneath it's tortilla shaped wheels.

Some say, the .5 of him squished into the dust looked like salsa. So much so, that it took a good 3 hours before anyone was able to look at a burrito without thinking of him.

They buried the squished .5 wrapped in a tortilla, topped with salsa and sour cream beside the University Gateway on the College Green.

So! See! There really would be no OU in Athens without the Buggy.

And now you know why I haven't been posting lately. I have nothing to say. (happy grin. yo saunters off to Athens.)

Beautiful day out. Heading outside to read for awhile.

Nothing much has been happening. Jeff had a nasty asthma attack over the weekend. Freaked me out. He and Bindi have really had a hard time this season. Bindi sits around sneezing snot on my bed. He loves to share. LOL

Chubby has butt problems. I've been using a homemade mixture of plantain, lemon juice and witchhazel on it. It's doing wonders.

Spotty came in with an infected wound in the side of his neck. I hate puss. He's doing better now.

Barely been on my scooter since last post. Thursday and Friday I went out delivering AVON brochures. That was fun. Made a couple sales. Needed them bad because I'm trying to get enough money to buy a mini-laptop.
It's a cool little netbook! The stats on it are exactly the same as mom's emachine, but this is only 6.7 x 9.8 x 1.4 inches. : ) It barely weighs a thing. They claim it's 2.4 pounds. I swear it weighs less.

Anyway, it's $298 bucks and I hope to have it by August. : )

Watched an awesome movie Sunday, called, "Lost in Austen." If you love Jane Austen, you've got to see this one! The scoop: Amanda gets transported back to the time of Pride & Prejudice. Elizabeth Bennett takes her place in the modern world, falls in love with it and never wants to leave.

Meanwhile, Amanda tries to adjust to her new world and proceeds to botch the entire world of P & P up. It's hilarious! Especially when Amanda finally finds her way back to her own time and has to borrow Elizabeth Bennett's cell phone to make a call. ROFL

Anyway, I put a poll up at Wrinkle World. It's in today's entry.

Wow! It's a drive-by note! (sound of Rex's motor...brun...brrruuunnn...)

The scoop goes:

1. I haven't felt well and have been laying low, with a couple of exceptions. I went hiking Sunday. It was fun.

2. I just printed out the first book of my mini-moose series so I can begin the editing process. (remember Nanowrimo novel month in november?)

3. I've been cartooning on the side. Trying out new techniques and stuff.

4. Yesterday I broke the 3000 mile mark on a trip to Walmart in WVA. That was cool. Rex goes in for his 3,000 mile check up next month. : )

And that's pretty much it. It's been reallllllllyyy boring.

I'll catch up on everyone's blog tomorrow. I'm heading off to tinker with mini-moose and get to bed early.

Hey guys! Haven't been around much because:

1. Sinus headaches to no end.
2. Vertigo! (curse you evil vertigo!!!!)
3. More headaches!
4. Muscle spasms in me arms.

I did, however (unfortunately), made it out to see "Land of the Lost," yesterday and left a mini-note of it on utterly. Big mistake going to the movie. Worst one I've seen in years.

It was so bad, that after the first 30 minutes - hardly anyone was laughing or making any response whatsoever. When the pain and suffering were over and parents were leading their little kids out of the threatre - the kids had this,"What the heck was that?" look on their face. Mamash confused little kids and rightfully so!

No one was talking. They just sorta stared blankly straight ahead and went to their cars.

I've never been to a movie before where no one came out talking about it. Then again, I've never seen a threatre with so few people. Now I know why. It wasn't worth seeing.

Anyway! It was definitely not a show for kids to see...much less adults, unless you get into masturbation (that was the humans) and watching monkey boy grab what's-her-names left boob throughout the show.

So how did we unsuspecting suckers end up there? Well, most of the people who showed were my age. In other words, kids who grew up watching the original (and better) Land of the Lost.

Since it was a remake, we figured it would be ok to be there. Sci-fi channel did their part by running re-runs of the old "Land of the Lost." It brought back fond memories. We dropped our guard.

I'm sure some of you are thinking, "Will Ferrell. Didn't that give you a clue to stay away?"

No. It didn't. Because quite frankly, I was completely unfamiliar with his work and now - I never want to see any more of it.

"Didn't you bother to read the rating and little side things that you should be aware of?" you ask.

Duh! "Land of the Lost!" Decent show! Why would I even begin to think that some sick, depraved mind would turn it into a plotless, not funny, vulgar pile of crap.

So that's my summary of the movie. A plotless, not funny, vulgar pile of crap.

To Will Ferrell, I offer a quote from Phyllis Dillar, "If you have to use cuss words to make people laugh - you're not funny." Hey Will, add masturbation and crude sexual content to the list - and you're not funny. That pretty much sums you up.

Great news! Evil nephews dog is officially gone! Pray he doesn't get another one. We finally have access to the rest of the farm now. We've been cut off from about 100+ acres because the stupid thing might attack. It's nice to have the farm back. :)

Hopefully, having two dogs shot by the neighbours should teach him a lesson. Then again, he's not all the bright and probably won't catch on.

Little nephew goes into the army tomorrow. Tonight is his last night of freedom. Bet he's eating all his favourite foods. :)

Took the cats (Bindi, Jeffie & Squeeky) camping last night. We camped below the dam of our pond. They had the time of their wee lives!

In the first hour, Bindi fell out of a tree. That ended that. He lost interest in climbing and decided the dam was safer.

As darkness set in, I watched their silhouettes jumping in the air trying to catch bugs.

Then I noticed a firefly had made it's home on the screen of the bivy. I couldn't figure out why, until I looked down and saw the light flashing now and again on my walkie. Guess it was trying to court a cute red-bellied firefly. Would have been a bit of a shock to it if it tried to mate a walkie. LOL

Anyway, they bug hunted for a few hours and then I made the boys come to bed. Squeeky refused, so she spent the night roaming the field. Jeffie was happy about it. He went to the foot of the bivy and stared out the little window till he fell asleep.

Bindi, on the other hand, was a royal pain. He was like a little kid on an overdose of sugar. LOL Thought I'd never get him to sleep.

Right now, Bindi is still at it. He's running around outside and Jeffie and Squeeky are sacked out on the futon.

We're going back up later today. I need to get some AVON stuff done first. Tonite's our last night to get to campout this week. It's starts raining tomorrow nite again. *sulk*

I'll post pics later. I forgot and left my camera at camp.

Mom was on her way to school, got to the end of the driveway and made a quick return. With fear and trembling, she approached my open door and said, "There's a cat lying on the road. What's going on with these cats?"

me: "I don't know. It's that time of year when everyone commits suicide."

Mom: "It's gray."

me: "WHAT???"

Mom: "The cats gray, dead on the road."

me: "BINDI!!!! BINDI!!!! BINDI!!!!"

I'm running all out toward the road, angry that I hadn't kept an eye on Bindi this morning and mad at him for not staying away from the road. He and the road are magnets.

I get to the end of the drive and there's a short haired gray cat. He's been hit in the head, just enough to pretty much knock his eyes backwards.

I turn around and face the bridge. "It's not fair!!! It's just not fair!!!" Bindi was going to be an orphan and not understand why. I turned back to the poor little baby lying on the road.

me: "Please don't have white paws. Please don't have white paws."

I brace myself and look around his body. I'm cursing my lousy vision and lean closer. No white.

I turn back towards the bridge and walk to the cottage, fists clenched and shaking. I call for the boys and eventually they show up before I arrive. Mom looks out and sees the boys.

mom: "Ok. There they are. I'm leaving before I'm late for school."

The boys dodge mom's car as she backs around and I continue lecturing them on staying away from the road.

By the time I got back to bury the unknown cat, some stupid redneck had run over him again. It was a purposeful hit. The cat was clearly out of the way of the car. I hate rednecks.

I scraped what was left off the road and buried the little fellow beside the other little fellow I buried last week.

At this rate - it's going to be a long Spring and I just may have to create a new cemetary. This one is filling up with coons and unknown cats.

Sexy Rex at Strouds Run!

Strouds Run is beautiful! It's got a massive lake and perfect for birdwatching!

The park's not so great when it comes to hiking. I spent 45 minutes (give or take a few seconds) trying to find a trail that actually went somewhere and then trying to find trail heads announced by a sign.

I was really frustrated. By the time I discovered a trail that had potential (of going further than 100 yards or so - there's 15.5 miles of trail), the sky had darkened with thunder in the background. I had to leave...but not before doing something I normally would never do - I pulled out me lil' Swiss army knife and snipped off a couple fern fronds! :)

I ID'ed them when I got back. One was a Silvery Glade fern and the other an x-mas fern. They're drying in a book. :)

Anyway, here's a pic of the first trail I tried out:

Looks impressive, doesn't it? Too bad it didn't go anywhere. Well, it did. It led back to the road, about 200 yards away. LOL

In spite of the frustration, it was still a pretty cool trip. Why? I got to drive about 40 minutes home in a downpour - it was a blast! :)

Not sure if I'm going on any adventures tomorrow. We'll have to wait and see. :)

Yo - the missing link!

The big question! Where have I been? Sitting with maps shoved in my face. Plotting. Planning. Taking notes. Reading trail guides. All that just to walk some 40+ miles of the Buckeye Trail by August. lol

Last week I went to Burr Oak and walked part of the BT there. It was mamash hot. The yellow blaze marks the beginning of the Robert & Mary Lou Paton trail, which also leads to the BT trail a short bit down the trail. The pics I took of the blue & yellow blazes on the trees turned out blurry. dang.

Anyway, I got a bit sick and had to fight my way home. The heat is starting to play with my dystonia & Red Bull is about the only thing helping me with fatigue attacks. LOL

Tomorrow is the Coleman Memorial Day reunion. boring. I'm going just because it's at Lake Alma and I want to hike the 1 mile trail. :) IY"H, I'll get to go to Old Man's Cave, Tuesday. There's a good 50 or 60% chance of thunderstorms. I don't mind the rain when it's warm. Feels good.

Anyway! I'm off to the library. Want to look up a bunch of plants and read more on snakes & spiders. I know! I could do it on the net, but I still think it's more fun with actual books. :)

I've been doing nothing. How's that for excitement! :)

I'm hoping to get out and ride today. Want to go to Old Man's Cave and hike at least part of the Grandma Gatewood trail before it gets too late.

On the entertaining side! While working out to Billy Blanks Bootcamp Cardio, I saw Jeff plowing full steam across the yard - right behind him was one angry robin. ROFL!!! Jeffie was running for his lil' life! He dived under mom's house and hid. ROFL!!!

Jeff's now sleeping on his fave AVON box beside the bookcase. Birds can't see him there. LOL

A place I love....well...if we pretend England and Disney World don't exist, then I have to go with Hunting Island State Park in South Carolina! : )

I love it there!!! I love the dead jelly fish on the beach! I saw my first horseshoe crab there! It was beached and upside down...but still alive.

I love the saltwater marshes!

Speaking of crabs, I saw one doing something really weird on the beach! I didn't know crabs used fishing poles!

I love watching the fishing boats.

I swam with the dolphins! Ok! I was actually trying to chase them as they went past me, but close enough.

I nearly got swallowed by a giant, evil clam there, who had really bad breath!!!

I'd like to marry the lighthouse! I love lighthouses! Here's a quick sketch I did of the one there back in '97:

That's the other thing I loved. I loved sitting on the beach and sketching everything in sight.

So! Lemono! There's mine! Bet you're wishing you never asked. LOL

Time once more to offer sacrifices to the rain gods. Just kidding. We're under flood watch tomorrow afternoon through nite. I've already started flood proofing the outside and spending all morning tomorrow lpreparing for the worst.

We just had 1/4" yesterday and the water raised behind the cottage enough that I could sit in the living room and hear it. We have 1 - 3" coming tomorrow. That's roughly 3 - 8" in the cottage.

Guess I can't complain. It's been awhile since I got nailed - but I'm going to complain anyway. Yes, I would have died in the desert for k'vetching about the manna. LOL!!!

Anyway! I put a new product review up at the Wrinkle and added a couple magazines.

I'm sleeping out in my bivy (tent) tonight. I need to check how waterproof it is. It might not rain overnite, but I'm hoping it will a little. The nice part? The cats will be inside and I'll be outside. aaahhhh.... (happy grin)

Welp! Off to do some more flood proffing and there goes Jeffie up the flag pole. BLAST YOU JEFF!!! YES!!!! YES!!! YES!!! THE ROBINS JUST SHOVED JEFF OUT OF THE VINES, HE HIT THE GROUND AND THEN ONE OF THEM SMASHED HIM RIGHT IN THE BACK!!! He's hiding under the holly tree. LOL!!!!

The robins are sitting close by waiting for him this time. I hope they get him good.

Poor Bindi. He's having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. He woke up to me stepping on his paw.

Then he barfed 3 times.

Then he got grounded for about an hour because I caught him on the other side of the bridge, playing near the road.

Then he got caught again.

Then he got attacked by a cat.

And all of this happened between 7:00 AM - 11:10 AM!

Now he's sitting on the porch. I think he's trying to stay out of trouble. lol

It's Hope Furnace at Lake Hope! Ok, that was pretty cool, but it doesn't beat the next pic!

It's REX at Hope Furnace!!!! I love the trunk on this little guy! It holds my 1/2 helmet, goggles, shirt, 2 quart canteen, bungie straps, tool kit, and of course my papers if I get stopped for speeding. LOL

The pack sits between my legs and holds my water bottle, my laminated Ohio map, camera, binos, suntan lotion, etc. In other words, all the little things I need fast access to.

The thing hanging down by the handlebars is my bar map. Obviously it holds a small map and I toss in directions. The wind keeps the map horizontal when I ride so it's easy to read. :)

Found a cruise that's better than anything I've been on yet! Rt 143 to 50 to 278 to Lake Hope! It was super!!! But not near as super as the drive back!

278 to 56 towards Athens, then 684 to the cottage! 278 to 56 was brilliant! The road runs along creeks, streams and fresh water marshes. There was lots of shade - a welcome relief from the burning sun. There's loads of caves, over-hangs and sandstone rock croppings and cliffs. Made me happy Rex only goes 35 so I could thoroughly enjoy the cruise! :)

Lake Hope is right up there with my beloved southern parks. It rocked! Loads of trails! Loads of birds! A Great Blue Heron flew right in front of me when I crossed the road to see the Hope Furnace. It must have seen me because it suddenly let out a long string of poop. LOL

Anyway, I took pictures (nothing all that great) and will post some tomorrow.

Books I love! "Old Black Witch"

If ever there was a fun kids book - this was it! Maybe it's because of the many hours I devoted to trying to turn my brother into a toad.

Maybe it's because it would have been super cool to have a freaky witch living in our attic - and her turning my brother into a toad! Maybe she would have given me rides on her broom - or clobbered me with it because I was a pest.

One thing I know that made this book so awesome, was the watercolour and pen ink drawings! They were spooky and fun!

Anyway, the story goes like this. A mother takes her little son, Nicky, to New England to find a place to start a little tea shop. They get suckered into a broken-down house.

When they arrive, Nicky lights a fire in the fireplace and an old black witch falls down the chimney, lands with a plump and begins yelling at Nicky for catching her broom on fire.

Anyway, to make a long story short, the witch finally surrenders to the fact that her home now belongs to Nicky and his mom and eventually helps her in the kitchen when the tea shop opens and on her off days heckled visitors from her attic bedroom window.

My favourite part of the book? Near the end two burglars sneak in and try to steal money from the tea shop....Old Black Witch turned them into green and brown toads. LOL!!!! I LOVE IT!

Hey guys! I'm having a wonderful holiday! Been scootering on non-rainy days. Went to Lake Alma a few days ago. It's about an hour away. That was fun.

I've also been playing video games on my pc: RISK, Ravenhearst and Pirates of the Atlantic.

I worked a little on my comic book script today. It's not coming along the way I'd like, but that's ok.

Other than game play, I've barely had my pc on and loving it! : )

Anyway! I'm outa here. I'll be back Sunday or Monday. I have a few fun posts I want to do on my favourite books through the years, beginning with the "Old Black Witch," and I've took lots of pics of my trip to Lake Alma and my scooter. : )

Man, what a wasted week. I had so much I wanted to do, mainly keep up with blogs and blogging. It was number one on my list for the week. Naturally, I got nailed with a headache and still have it, but not as bad.

I'm also 9 pages behind in Script Frenzy, thanks to headache. ugh

Anyway, I've got a few comical cat stories to write up next week. And, I took pics of my scooter and stuff.

Meanwhile, I pulled off a new post at Squibbler. There's a Boor in the White House. Read the first comment someone posted. It's hilarious. I can't believe people think the Queen asked for an ipod. Obviously they have no idea of what the Queen is. The Queen asks for nothing.

That just about describes what happened with my greenhouse! poof! We had wind gust early up to 60 mph and it nearly beat the thing to death. In between a few second breaks, I rescued it. It was quite a battle wrestling it into the shed. I won! : )

I've started a new blog. Yes, another. The weebly was my test blog. I wanted to see what I thought of weebly. It's tolerable, but it's not good for daily blogging.

So! I started my official political blog on blogger. It's called "The Squibbler." Don't ask why. I just think the name is funny. Anyway, I put my first post up a few minutes ago. It's my opinion on the name change from Freedom Towers to One World Trade Center.

Anyway, Blackie the Gimp looks like he has a lump on the left side of his throat. He's too wild for me to get near him. I hope it's not. That would be expensive.

Spent a couple hours on the hill with the kids today. It was a lot of fun! Saw 6 Cedar Waxwings behind the pond! That was the first highlight!

The second highlight was when we came off the hill and were sitting in the yard, still birding, when I heard Red-tailed Hawks behind me. There were three of them tearing into a Turkey Vulture. It was awesome! I love aerial combats!

That has pretty much been the day. I'm still sore. My homemade ointment is doing wonders in helping my neck. I should feel well enough tomorrow to go out and have some fun on my scooter again. : )

Off to watch my marathon of Primeval!

Heading to bed early tonight. Absolutely exhausted. All the late nights and stuff with Bindi caught up with me today. oy.

Bindi is still making improvements. He hates his meds and is stating it every time I get the dropper near his mouth. LOL

Went for a ride on my scooter today. Had to get my meds. Wanted to do another long ride, but didn't have the energy and the winds were wicked.

On the super bright side! I broke the 400 mile mark today! If the weather will stay tolerable for awhile I'll blast past 600 miles on my scooter with ease. LOL

Welp, I'm outa here to read everyone's blog and then hitting the sack. Good nite all!

2nd post of day: Bindi update

(The boys at the vet and my lovely knee! They were hiding in the back of the carrier. This carrier has also been Morris the Strays cubby for the winter. I had it surround by hay and wrapped in a blue tarp with a heat reflective shield on the other side.)

Wow! I knew Bindi's eye was extended and I knew it had to be infection behind it. Last night, after the shot, it started going back to normal. From the looks of it, it's got just a tiny way to go now.

Can't imagine the pain he was in waiting to get to the vet. It gives us an idea though of how badly infected his mock tonsils were/are, that the side that was most infected and bleeding was so full of infection it was pushing his eye forward. OUCH!

We seriously need a 24 hr/day, 7 day/wk clinic somewhere nearby. An animal shouldn't have to suffer that long. Or! The vet shouldn't be that picky on emergency calls and think infection of that sort can wait till Monday.

Anyway! Bindi is going in and out the door this morning and enjoying the sunlight, even though it makes him whince. : )

Morris the Stray attacked Squeeky a short bit ago. Bindi attacked Morris! Morris wasn't really sure about Bind. He's always made him run for his life. Now Bindi was standing sideways in front of him just daring him to move. LOL

Anyway! It was sweet of him to defend Squeeky! Especially since Bindi is sick and is literally half the size of Morris!

I've never seen Bind stand up to anyone. That was cool!

1st post of the day and it's sad

Just got back from the vet a bit ago. Little Bindi not only has cat flu (bronchitis), but he has the cat version of tonsillitis! Cat tonsils aren't like human ones, but it's still tonsils of sorts.

Anyway, they're all swollen and infected and one is actually bleeding because of it. (yo fights back the tears) My baby.

I made Jeff go too so Bindi wouldn't be alone. It was a mistake. Jeff was a major sissy ("NO I WASN'T!!!") and kept crying ("I WASN'T CRYING!!!!"). I imagine Bindi wished he'd just shut up. LOL

So, Jeff got his allergy shot. He wasn't happy.

Bindi got an allergy shot and antibiotic shot. It's raining, so I'm waiting for mom to get home so I can go in and get him stage 2 chicken baby food. It will feel good on his throat and the vet said he'll love it.

The worst part of the trip was I'd called my former sister-in-law to take me. On the way to the vet, she got pulled over for speeding and nailed with a $113 fine. OUCH!!!!! OUCH!!! OUCH!!!!

I hated that. There's nothing worse than asking someone to do something very nice and then they get nailed. oy.

So that's been the morning! Hope yours is going better. : )

Geesh! She goes forever and doesn't post and then she turns around and gets posting crazy. Well...don't worry! We all know it won't last. LOL

Anyway! Someone on the Script Frenzy forum mentioned doing shorts. Shorts are like 3 - whatever minute mini-movies. So! Rather than do a bunch of comic books, I'm sticking to the 3 and the rest of my pages will be for short animations! That should be fun! Scripts only, but still fun!

Ok! I'm finished blabbing for the day. I have a window of snot to clean off. Bindi isn't feeling well and keeps sneezing on it. Last night he sneezed on my wee head.

Then a bath and I'll be ready for Shabbos!
